This is a video showing a possible camera move through the restaurant, as we follow a waiter delivering a tray of food to Jon, who is sitting at the table near the end of the shot. Baby Garfield is supposed to be hanging out in the garbage can, outside in the alley.

This is an early concept sketch of the restaurant dining room. I was inspired by the Blue Bayou Restaurant at Disneyland, where it kind of looks like you’re dining outdoors, as the ceiling is painted to look like the sky. But the director was looking for something a little smaller and more intimate.

Here is another design variation featuring a larger space, with Italian themed building facades, with private booths below and a “VIP” elevated seating area surrounded by columns.

Alley Location
Originally the alley where we find baby Garfield hiding out, was connected to the back of the restaurant. But in the final film the director decided it would be better located across the street for sight-line purposes.
